$20 Million Dollars!? The Love Ride
20 million is a tidy sum of cash raised by bikers for charities over the last 24 years in the Los Angeles area.
According to their website, “The LOVE RIDE is currently the largest one-day motorcycle event in the world. It is a place where people come to have a good time, while making a difference in the world we live in.”
Jay Leno was the Grand Marshall, as he has served every year since 1985. This year he rode with an estimated 20,000 bikers from Glendale to Pomona, to join the final day of California Bike Week, which included drag racing, stunt-riding exhibitions, and a large vendor/trade show that wrapped up with a concert by Gregg Allman.
The ride was founded 24 years ago by Glendale Harley owner Oliver Shokouh as a way to raise money for local charities including the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Special Olympics of Southern California.
